Melanie Bond

I was born in Canada but I grew up in Washington State. I graduated from UBC first with a B.Sc. in Biochemistry, then a B.F.A. and M.F.A. in Visual Art (Studio Arts).
I currently live in Vancouver. My artistic practice seems to follow two separate paths, the domestic sphere and public, political concerns.
Much of my work is inspired by personal collections and everyday chores. I have equally been interested in depictions of peopled landscapes. Recently, this has evolved into an investigation of how land ownership, regulation and memory affect our perception of place.
